Explore more of the Caribbean with Seabourn

Seabourn’s small-ship cruises in what they call ‘the Uncommon Caribbean’, away from the most-visited islands, have been a huge hit with individual Travel Counsellors and our customers alike. These trips feel cosier and more authentic – you can spend a day with Seabourn’s chefs in local markets and sound out the crew for insider tips on where to find the best marine life, among many other benefits.

The destinations themselves are easy-going, welcoming gems that can only be visited by more intimate ships, ensuring an exclusive and immersive experience that really gets you to the heart of the region and its communities. And the highly experienced captains know the best places to anchor for water sports and beach barbecues.

The following are some of our favourite recommendations, both of them including a stop at Carambola Beach in Saint Kitts, where Seabourn hosts its fabulous, complimentary Caviar in the Surf event and beach barbecue, weather permitting. The golden arc of Carambola is home to this island’s most luxurious beach clubs and restaurants and also offers water sports for those feeling active.

On both, you’ll sail aboard Seabourn Ovation, part of Seabourn’s fleet of pioneering, intimate, all-suite ships carrying just 458–600 guests each, sailing to the world’s most desirable destinations at their peak season. Seabourn also stands out for its Oceans Alive program to protect oceans, seas, and waterways from environmental harm.

From Barbados, you’ll head to, in turn, Bequia in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Antigua, Saint Kitts, and Sint Maarten on this unforgettable week-long itinerary. From Bequia you can opt to hop over to the celebrity magnet Mustique by yacht or catamaran ride, to explore local hotspots, shop, cool off in the sea, or savour a cocktail at a local bar – perhaps legendary Basil's Bar with its island ambiance. In Martinique, meanwhile, your options include visiting the 17th-century sugar factory Ceron House, now home to an amazing indigenous garden, a cocoa field where you can sample the beans, and a fantastic restaurant, followed by a stop off at a black-sand beach. And in Guadeloupe you might kayak through the mangrove forest and barrier reef of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Lagoon with its herons, frigate birds, large starfish, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers.

10-day Gems of the Lesser Antilles

This Barbados round-trip takes you to Bequia, Dominica, Saint Kitts, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, and Trinidad and Tobago. It’s an exciting and unique itinerary that will leave you with lasting memories of experiences including stopping off to see Dominica’s thermal springs, boiling lake and waterfalls, and tasting its fragrant bay rum. You will also discover the Aruban capital Oranjestad with its colourful Dutch Colonial style buildings and exploring Trinidad’s ‘little sister’ Tobago. The latter is home to Pirate’s Bay – considered one of the Caribbean’s prettiest beaches – and the bird sanctuary of Little Tobago island. You might even catch a performance by the local Tamboo band and join locals for a bit of ‘liming” (chatting) over some fresh seafood and stuffed rotis.
